Rogers gallery is absolutly beautiful! My favorite part is their gift shop! It is the coolest thing to walk through, there are beautiful gifts and accessories every where you look and beautiful little litghts hanging from above! I also grew up in Mattapoisett and have visited the gallery many times. Louise has a beautiful eye for detail and her jewelry is perfectly displayed about her shop. We also share the same love for sea glass and jewelry.

I have been collecting sea glass for years. I use the sea glass I find in Washington State to decorate stepping-stones for gardens. I also sort my glass by color and keep them in glass jars around my house until I decide how to use them. Glass hunting is my favorite treasure hunting activity which helps the oceans stay clean.

For me collecting and designing using sea glass is almost medicinal. The colors, the textures and the shapes are perfect for creating. There are few days that go by that sea glass does not touch my life.
I am an avid collector and jewelry designer. I have read about Louise before and find her story heart warming.
Besides writing, photographing and publishing my book "Sea Glass A Photographic Journey" my summers are spent sailing in Greece forever looking for that perfect piece of sea glass.

I too collect Sea Glass-
what a hobby…beauty, salt air, and treasure hunting!
I paint small watercolors – mat and frame them…underneath the painting I place a row of sea glass and sea shards (pottery)
maybe a doll part, beach button, fishermans pipe piece, a bit of shell-
ect. Anything found on the shore is game for me.

Prior to seeing this article I had the pleasure of accidentally finding my way to the Rogers Gallery and Surroundings a few years ago. At that time I met both Louise and Ben. I quickly became an enormous fan of both of them as well as their outstanding collection of unique and electic goods. Both are stores that you won't find for many, many states around Mattapoisett, MA.

Louise Rogers is a truly lucky woman to have been collecting sea glass since the age of six. I too have turned my love of beachcombing for sea glass into a business. Like Louise I find my own sea glass it's the only way for me. I make sea glass jewelry.
I have been doing this for twenty years. Out Of the Blue Seaglass Jewelry is the name of my company and I have just recently created a website. My advice to anyone is to follow your instincts – and once your business is established don't let the business side of it rule you – yes be mindful money wise – but let it be a love affair!
