America's Best Colleges for Entrepreneurs: Executive education
What do you think of the 12 top executive education programs for busy entrepreneurs on FSB’s America’s Best Colleges for Entrepreneurs list this year? Have you attended one of our picks? Are they the best? Did their program help you build a businesss? Did we miss a great school? Tell us what you think. The best replies will be published here, and possibly in a future story on CNNMoney.com.
I don't think Brigham Young University belongs on this list. While they do offer a great education, unless you're a member of the LDS faith, you will likely find the heavy mix of religion and academics disturbing and a stifling somewhat fundamentalist culture compared with a regular university. The few non-member students that are there are actively proselytized into becoming members. It's a great school, but *only* if you're an active Mormon and want to live the lifestyle of one (a very, very narrow segment of the population). I say all of this as an active LDS member with friends at BYU.
The University of Central Florida has an exceptional Executive Development Center. I'm enrolled in the "Executive MBA" program for working professionals which includes an international residency trip to 2 foreign countries, and the best of the best faculty from the 6th largest university in the United States. All for a price of $38k. I'm confused as to why this program was skipped.
The best graduate degrees for entrepreneurs are not MBAs! Many top universities now offer Masters in Entrepreneurship – which are custom designed for people interested in starting their own business. MBAs are totally useless in comparison. You're behind the times!
