Dear Editor;

Sorry to burst the bubble of Bear Naked wunderkinds Synnott and Flatley but there is indeed a difference between skids and pallets in the shipping industry. Skids are horizontal platforms raised 6 or so inches by 2" by 6" rails mounted to the outer bottom, running along the length. Pallets are more complex constructions, with a full platform on the top, a partial platform on the bottom, raised four inches or so, by three or more 1" or 2" by 4" stringers running along the length.

Skids are useful for moving defined quantities or certain parcels (tons of paper, specified lots of tubular steel) long distances, or odd lots or broken quantities within a shipping department or factory floor. Pallets are better suited for out-bound freight, where stacking of like-sized pallets on top of each other is common. Truck shipments and ocean freight would normally be best served by pallets; local deliveries or transit of work in process around a plant would be likely handled by skids.

Thank you for the inspiration. Starting a new brand is tough but can be a lot of fun. PotatoFinger Potato Chips have been running this pace for quite some time now. We are all over the place but by no means do we have any significant market share. We are still fighting for shelf space from goliath: Frito-Lay. Ask for our chips at your local grocer. Give 'em the finger!

My favorite article was about Bear Naked granola. I have been very impressed with the company for 2 reasons. As the article states the company never skimped on using almonds and every other healthy ingredient in their product. My husband and I not only eat it for breakfast but also as a healthy treat. Also I would like to know if I could contact Kelly or Brendan as I have an all natural dog biscuit business . I am changing the name and packaging and the name Bear Naked gave me the courage to come out with my new name and packaging . I am waiting for the new packaging to be finished soon to present to the stores. As of now my product sells in several major stores in the Cleveland, Ohio one being Whole Foods Market.

Awesome story! Very inspirational. I have been a customer on and off of their products. I first learned of Bear Naked from Dean Karnazes (aka UltraMarathon Man). The problem for me is I run alot and eat alot. The 12 oz packages don't last very lonmg, especially considering the high price. I LOVE their stuff, but it's spendy. Now I just buy it occasionally as a treat. Otherwise it's yourt and Kashi Go Lean Crunch every morning. Sorry.
