This is a new and exciting concept revolving around traditional Italian pie in Portland, Maine!
According to my friend, Chef Peter Reinhart, "There are only two types of pizza: good pizza and great pizza".
I have to agree: the ultimate judge is the person eating the pizza.
The U.S. Pizza Team has done much to celebrate the art of pizza. Anything that helps create more awareness for pizza is good for the entire pizza industry.

Love the article. Very thorough reporting. I feel like I need to drive
to Emporium, Pa. for a pizza!
What an excellent article, so descriptive that I'm now craving a slice of Cajun Chicken Pizza!
I am from Emporium, lived there my whole childhood and will tell you that Pizza Palace has the GREATEST pizza I have ever tasted. I now live in Austin with many great resaurants..A few come close, but Pizza palace is still the best! Yeaaaa–Something positive finally puts Emporium on the map. Thanks Dave.
Chicken & celery??? On a pizza??? That is not a pizza. Are you people nuts? Go to a real city and order a real Italian pie.

Sounds good for kids, but if you want real pizza, called "Apizza", spend a day in New Haven, CT a few blocks south of Yale University on Wooster Street – a place called Peppe's. Brick oven, home style, it has been this way since 1927.
