Very nice write up. Fun to see sailing being discussed as a sport and an exciting one at that. Good description of racing- a complicated Chessgame on a moving playing field.
If you enjoyed putting this write up together I highly recommend attending a yearly regatta as crew and sharing your experience with your readers.
My wife and I met while racing sailboats in San Francisco Bay. We sail 2 or more weekends a month, year around and race whenever we get the chance! Our favorite sailing location besides the Challenging waters of San Francisco is Croatia. 1800 islands full of history and amazing walled cities and fantastic locals willing to have a drink with a stranger and just talk about stuff and Croatia.
Our race boat in full battle mode (March 2008 San Diego National Offshore One Design Regatta) 14 boats on the starting line in our group.

Keep up the good work
