Breakfast With Cheetahs
Classic Africa sends animal lovers into the bush to help threatened species. Have you ventured to Africa for a safari? Tell us about your trip. Where do you head for adventure travel?
Maggie,
Thanks for the nice article. Can u let me know the name of the US company which operates this tour.
Thanks,

I’m one of those hooked on Africa. Enjoyed this article, but am sorry you
didn’t visit and write about Laurie Marker’s Cheetah Conservation Fund –
also in Namibia. This group is raising and placing dogs with farmers to
protect the herds from wild cheetah. It’s an interesting and successful
approach.
Thanks for writing about these conservations initiatives.

I work for Webster University and I took a group of students on a short-term study abroad class to Namibia. We did not visit Okanjima, but did go to the Cheetah Conservation Fund a little further north. I arranged this as part of the 14-day “Culture and Nature” safari contracted with a Namibian safari company, which I highly recommend. The culture and cultural history of Namibia is fascinating and something more Americans should learn about. My students had a fantastic eye-opening experience with this, and also truly enjoyed the wildlife viewing.

I visited Africa twice, the first time-South Africa, the second-Kenya and Tanzania. Both times were absolutely amazing, though different, as these counties are so different from one another. I can not wait to return to Africa, it is the most fascinating part of the world! Next time I go to Africa, I am planning on volunteering in Namibia for a Wildlife Conservation Project.
