The Paul Newman brand of products will continue to succeed. The values of the brand, of the man, are so clear-cut and universally understood they have the power to transcend his physical presence. Brands are about simple and clearly-defined values; about promises made and kept relative to these values. The David Ogilvy brand of agency is still a leadership brand. Though the man, himself, is long gone, his brand endures as a result of the indelible brand blueprint he left in his stead. Jim Henson, the man behind the Muppet brand, though no longer with us, left a brand platform from which his funny, furry characters can carry on for generations to come. A brand is about promises made and promises kept. People will continue to believe in, and buy, the Paul Newman brand of salad dressings, coffee, popcorn, and more, not because they loved “Cool Hand Luke,” but because the man behind the brand had values both relevant and universally loved.

Mr. Newman not only donated more than $250 million dollars through his company, he inspired many others to found businesses based on his model. Companies such as

Give Something Back Business Products Pura Vida Coffee, Humanitas Winery, and Peacekeepers Cause-Metics that donate almost all and sometimes all profits to charities have proven that regular folk can pursue profit for the common good as well.
Bless you, Mr. Newman, for all you have done for others and for the role model you have been and will continue to be.

I hope the next generations continue his legacy with the same enthusiasm; helping others in the same way he did it, unselfishly. I'm from Panama (Central America) it's amazing that I can find Newman's Own products down here. I love fig newmans fat free cookies. These are the only cookies I eat!!! They're so good that I can eat the whole package in one go!

I purchased his products before I ever heard of the man's charity. The reason is simple – his products are just darned good! My personal favorite is the spaghetti sauce. Many varieties are good, but there is one called Sockarooni (funny name, but amazing flavor) which is simply fantastic. I have recommended it to a number of my friends, and they have thanked me for it.

I'd like to take this moment to thank Paul Newman for the example that he has set for human beings, who are often shamelessly selfish. I remember thinking how fantastic his product was when I was a kid. I couldn't believe that such a famous person would donate everything he made to charity. I wondered why more in his positon didn't, and I hope that his children will carry on the name in memory of their father and to continue setting an example for the world!

I have been a customer of the Newman products from the very beginning. I have held Paul Newman and his family in high regard for a long time. He is a hometown hero here in the Cleveland OH area, so that was part of the appeal. But, I really loved the philanthropy and the information about organic foods. But, I wouldn't buy them if they weren't so tasty. I've tried pretty much every product of his that I've seen. Rarely have I been disappointed. I will remain a loyal customer because I like having that combination of good taste and good works.

There are a lot of movie stars and executives on Wall Street (or who were on wall street) who could learn a lot from Paul Newman's example. He was a true gentleman and understood that wealth was to be used to better the world, not as a source of ego driven greed.

Your statement says something about you; you are unhappy and generally skeptical. The company is not obligated to give away anything and yet it is obvious it has been very generous. Lots of companies do not make anything, so what? Have you forgotten about all of the jobs created by this endeavor. You need to change your outlook.

I never grew up watching his movies, let alone really know who Paul Newman was – just remember my parents mentioning his name in some film here or there. But I always knew his name because of his salad dressing. So amazingly good.

When I heard how it went to charity, done. Customer for life. Shame on those of you who comment about "exact percentages of the profits" – it's a heck of a lot better than what the greedy fools on Wall Street have ever done! (Especially in the past few weeks!)

This has been a private company. Off the $250 Million they claim they have paid to Charities, what has been the exact percentage off the revenues or profits. This is something that is not available and/or published in the past. So moving forward, what gaurantees does the public have that the percentages will remain the same.

Secondly, unlike other companies like General Mills or Kraft, this company does not make anything. It outsources manufacturing and just applies the label to it as Newman's own.

i want the company continue..it has quality products that compares to no one on the shelves. please keep the company going for people who need to eat organic pure products without many additives. paul newmans own has been a large part of my family's mealtime.
