There certainly are also bad players, particularly on auction & classified sites that will try to dupe IT buyers for a quick buck, but that business model burns out. The key is to find a good used IT partner. Many are reputable, but many more are not. Several small companies have been burned by uncrupulous operators who purchase equipment, strip them of their most valuable parts, replace them with commodity and/or defective parts and then resell them to unwitting buyers looking to save considerable money. Later, when they attempt to obtain service contracts from the OEM, they learn how they've been duped and face considerable further investment in order to make the equipment certifiable. Sometimes this isn't possible and the original investment is lost. It is always better to buy refurbished hardware directly from the OEM or from a vendow they certify.
