Go Surf a Kite
Walker Brock of Skywalk Kiteboarding taught FSB staffers the ropes of kiteboarding. Would you try kiteboarding?
The growth demographics are accurate; middle-aged windsurfers (like myself) switching into it for the excitement and convenience. I waited until the gear became safer and R&D/cost curve more stable. It's just as expensive as windsurfing but way more dangerous. It's also easier to learn, but "more fun" depends on your location and preferences. Unlike windsurfing, you should NOT try it without lessons from a certified professional school. (Mine was from Brett at Air Padre in South Padre Island, TX – highly recommended spot to learn, exceptional instructor).
I have sailed all my life. I would love to try kite surfing. But I will need hours of flight and kite simulation before I would attempt it.
I lost a close friend to hang gliding in NM. I always regreted not having a computer simulation for her to use. She was an experienced hang glider trying towing for the first time. She broke every bone in her body. It took a month for her to die.
