Business are struggling to land H1B visas to hire foreign workers, while seasonal businesses are crunched by an H2B visa shortage. What do you think?
What are your thoughts on the Department of Homeland Security's "no match" policy, as described in An immigration victory for employers?
Advocates for immigrants and the technology industry say that the U.S. should grant more H-1B visas to allow companies to hire the highly-trained talent they need from overseas. Opponents of raising the cap say that allowing more employers to recruit from other countries will drive down the wages of skilled workers in the U.S. How do you feel about this issue? Make a post.
The Bush administration just introduced a new regulation that will impose fines on employers if they knowingly hire illegal immigrants. The rule, discussed in our recent story, "U.S. cracks down on hiring of illegal immigrants," gives companies 90 days to verify an employee's identity and eligibility to work if his Social Security number doesn't match information in the Social Security Administration's database. Is this reasonable to ask of small companies? Or does it put too much burden on them? Comment here.
